3rd Grade Turkey Time!

I have to be honest, I'm not big on holiday themed projects unless I have the time to properly review a culture with kids.  As I think back to my childhood we often created replicas of objects which "represented" various cultures, and although they were a blast to create they usually ignored the significance of the culture and at time perhaps could even be interpreted as a mockery of said culture.  With this in mind, not having the time before thanksgiving to provided a mini history lesson, I decided to go with something pretty neutral, Turkeys!  While searching online I found someone who had created turkey glasses with their students.  This was not only a fun pre-holiday activity but it also touched on key curriculum requirements, namely in the proper use of scissors and cutting techniques.   After we made them we discussed what their purpose was "to wear while your eating turkey" "to make the turkey taste better"...

As with any paper cutting project the tables and floors were a mess!

Some angry birds!
